An online meeting was held on "Results of the development of sugar beet production in 2020 and upcoming tasks in 2021”


An online meeting was held under the organization of the Ministry of Agriculture on the topic "Results of the development of sugar beet production in 2020 and upcoming tasks in 2021". Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Melioration and Water Management JSC Rafig Aslanov, employees of the Ministry's Office and subordinate institutions, representatives of companies operating in this field participated in the online meeting.


It was noted at the event that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev announced the development of the agricultural sector as one of the priority directions. It was reported that systematic support measures are implemented by the state for the development of the agricultural sector, including the increase of sugar beet production. As a result of the measures taken, high productivity in sugar beet production was achieved in 2020.


The economic importance of the sugar beet plant was touched upon in the meeting. Since sugar beet production is one of the important areas in agriculture in our republic, it was emphasized that it is important to further increase productivity in this area. Sugar beet is a source of silage and molasses, a valuable feed product, in addition to sugar as the final processing product.
Preparations for sugar beet production this year and upcoming tasks, development of this field, goals and prospects were discussed at the meeting. Also, in accordance with the order given by the President of the country, discussions were held on the development of this field in the regions freed from occupation. It was emphasized that for the production of high-quality sugar beet, it is important to carry out agrotechnical measures on time and correctly, to conduct agrochemical analysis of land areas, to use mineral fertilizers correctly, and to take measures against pests in a timely manner. In order to increase productivity and optimize production costs, the importance of joining farmers in cooperatives and the importance of continuous educational activities in this direction were noted.


At the same time, opinions were exchanged on mineral fertilizers, seeds and equipment supply, irrigation issues, subsidies, and the voiced proposals were registered.


At the end of the discussions, it was announced that the meetings will be continued in this format, and appropriate tasks were given for the operative resolution of the issues raised.
